SDI Solo Diver Instructor

The SDI Solo diver course is one that makes SDI unique among training agencies. Training divers to safely explore the underwater world on their own comes with a great degree of responsibility. Instructor candidates can qualify to teach this SDI speciality without a full SDI instructor course by completing the SDI crossover eLearning and the Solo Diver instructor course.

During the course, candidates will consider benefits and boundaries of the buddy system with a view to defining when solo diving is appropriate. Academic presentations cover gas management and planning, dealing with contingencies during no-stop dives and carrying appropriate redundant equipment. As part of this we examine suitable equipment configurations.  In-water training focuses on skills development for solo divers and how to train self-sufficient, responsible divers.

Beyond Diving Skills

As a technical diving instructor you apply and teach more than diving skills and theory.

Making decisions in stressful situations, working in a team and communicating effectively – in short, non-technical skills – are all part of the courses you teach and are crucial to your students’ success.

Therefore, all of our instructor training courses include the micro-class offered by The Human Diver as mandatory pre-learning for your instructor level training.
