TDI Cavern and Intro to Cave Diver

The combination of TDI’s Cavern and Intro to Cave courses is one the best ways to start your journey into diving overhead environments.

While the Cavern part introduces you to line-laying, line-following, overhead diving equipment and teaches you to deal with a variety of challenging situations, the Intro to Cave part allows you to apply those skills outside of the light zone.

During the course, you progress gradually from the light penetration zone to actual cave diving. At the same time, you will improve your buoyancy, trim, stability and control in the water whilst working in a team. Yes, it’s challenging, but these courses are equally rewarding and give you access to spaces few people ever see. 

The TDI Cavern and Intro to Cave Diver course starts with a session discussing equipment options, no matter which configuration you’re using. That’s when we set up your lights, spools, reel and markers and fine-tune your existing setup. We’ll also be practicing line-laying skills on land before transfering them to the water.

  • 7 days including equipment setup and configuration session and 8 open water dives
  • Theory through manuals or eLearning (recommended)
  • This is an intense course combination – consider planning an additional day to have a day off or allow for unpredictable weather changes.

Beyond Diving Skills

As a technical, CCR or solo diver you need to apply more than diving skills and theory. 

Making decisions in stressful situations, working in a team and communicating effectively – in short, non-technical skills – are all part of our courses.
