What are you up to these days? Here at Dark Horizon Diving, daily activities have distinctly shifted but we stay connected to diving still.
Why was diving forbidden in Bali? Because it is considered a tourist activity. Those have been mostly shut down to minimise larger gatherings. As a consequence, we’ve taken a look at what we can do to help fill the time (easy) and keep afloat (much harder).
Decision Time
A few days of soul-searching, spreadsheet-saving and living room-pacing later, here we are. We’re determined to do what we can to keep Dark Horizon Diving alive. We want to be ready to teach and guide technical dives again as soon as we can.
To enable us to do so we’ve had to make a few tough decisions. Those are mostly relating to our two part time staff. Cutting their hours hasn’t been easy. However, the idea is to continue to give both some income. Then we will increase their hours again as soon as there is an income for the dive shop. Apart from that, we’ve cut all expenses possible across the business.
And what about you?
With that done, how do we fill the time? And how do you fill your time? To help you we’ve put together a ‘corona page’ for our website. I really hope I can take it down again soon. Until then, it has ideas on how to stay connected to diving, both free of charge and paid for. We’re offering an opportunity to study tech diving theory now and redeem some of the cost against a course later.
And apart from screentime, we’re doing a few other things. Reading books we’ve been meaning to read forever. Contributing to Scuba Diver Life (ok, that’s screentime also). Cooking things that take a bit longer to prepare … Oh, and then there are movies to watch!
We sincerely hope that all of our divers, their families and friends are well and healthy and find a way through the current crisis. Feel free to connect with us!
