October Newsletter – Happy birthday, Dark Horizon!

Technical diving in BaliDid you know? A few weeks ago, we celebrated our first birthday! What a year it’s been.

Even though the last few months have been challenging, especially for a new business, we’re off to a good start. This good start includes a great number of TDI courses taught here at our base in Bali, amazing technical dives on our reefs and the beginning of CCR teaching, too.

Dive Shows

One thing we have missed, though, have been dive shows. There is just something about meeting divers from all corners, catching up with old friends from around the world and hearing about everyone’s latest adventures. Throughout the year we’ve been working with the organisers of ADEX to support some of the awesome, technical diving related content they have offered. Adding to that, this weekend we’re making up for a bit more. We’re participating in the inaugural edition of Scuba.Digital. More about that in our next blog post.

Dive Industry Guidelines

And what about Indonesia? Whilst there were initial plans to open Bali in September, they didn’t come to fruition. However, things are moving ahead with the Indonesian government having recently published guidelines for a ‘new normal’ for the diving industry. Let’s hope they will help us re-start our favourite activity successfully.

New Tech Dive Sites

Meantime, we haven’t been completely idle on the ground. Our staff, Edi & Suryani, continue to look after the premises and support operations in the background. On the diving side, we’ve taken the opportunity to take a look at dive sites an hour south east of here. What did we find? Check out our YouTube channel for some amazing footage.

On our doorstep we’ve also looked a little further afield and have added to our list of great tech diving locations. All we need now is for the global situation to calm down, allowing us to welcome you all again!
