DPV & Tech DPV Courses
Learn to use a diver propulsion vehicle (aka DPV aka underwater scooter) during a DPV or Tech DPV course with us! DPVs allow you to cover greater distances, travel faster and save energy and gas on your dives. Aside from being a powerful tool, they can also be great fun – with the right training.
The SDI Diver Propulsion Vehicle speciality course is a great opportunity to simply try out DPV diving for a day and see whether you enjoy it. You’ll learn how DPVs work, how they handle underwater and how to plan no-stop dives using a DPV. At this introductory level, we can sometimes even complete the course in a single day.
The TDI Tech DPV diver course is for you if you would like to use a diver propulsion vehicle for more complex, technical dives. Over a minimum of two days, we take basic DPV handling skills to the next level underwater and on land. On land, you learn to plan your dives based on the greater speed of the DPV. Underwater, we practice more advanced skills such as handling a DPV during the decompression phase of the dive and dealing with a DPV failure alone and in a team.
We can offer the course in twinset and sidemount configuration as well as selected CCR / rebreather units. It’s also a great course to combine with or add to other technical diving courses.
