Technical Sidemount Diver

TDI does not offer a distinct recreational or technical sidemount course: instead, the TDI Sidemount Diver course certifies divers to the level of their existing certification. Our technical sidemount diving programme in Bali bridges the gap.

For example, if you are already a technical diver looking to transfer your knowledge and skills from backmount to sidemount, we create an individualised curriculum for you. Think of it as a crossover from one set of skills to another. Not a technical diver yet? Check out our basic TDI Sidemount course which can be combined with Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures.

Generally speaking, the first couple of days of our technical sidemount diving programme in Gozo, Malta will be spent ‘getting your head around’ the configuration. During shallow dives, we develop your competence and comfort level. Next, we add more tanks to accommodate decompression gases. We will work on tank handling, donning and doffing and switching gases. Towards the end of the course we complete decompression dives in sidemount to combine all of the elements practiced on previous days.

We use the TDI Sidemount curriculum as our basis for your training and develop skills from there. Exact timings and course content will differ depending on your existing qualification.
