Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures Diver

One of our most popular technical diving course combinations, Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures (ANDP) teaches students how to plan and conduct decompression dives to 45 metres on air whilst using rich Nitrox mixes to make decompression stops more efficient. It’s available in both backmount and sidemount configuration.

The Advanced Nitrox portion of the course examines the use of Nitrox with more than 40% oxygen and considerations of breathing oxygen. You will learn more about oxygen toxicity and how it affects technical diving planning, how to choose equipment for use with high concentrations of oxygen and how to ensure your dives are planned within safe exposure limits.

Decompression Procedures then examines how to conduct decompression dives to 45 metres using air as a bottom gas. This includes dealing with contingencies underwater, planning redundant equipment and gas supplies, efficient team communications, choosing suitable dive sites and understanding when to call a dive. Physics and physiology of diving are covered in depth as is dive planning by hand and with software.

Struggling with gas narcosis? Consider replacing Decompression Procedures with TDI Helitrox instead. You will learn to use limited Trimix (helium, oxygen, and nitrogen) with up to 35% helium and avoid issues including gas density, gas narcosis, and carbon dioxide build-up. Sounds complicated? Don’t worry – everything will be explained during our theory sessions.

In combination, Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures or Helitrox provide the foundation of further technical diving training, including CCR diving courses.

  • Tuition
  • Tank hire and bottom gas as required for the dives EXCLUDING helium and deco gas
  • Transport to dive sites in Gozo
  • Video analysis of your dives
  • Use of the O’Dive Doppler sensor for decompression optimisation
  • Those with little or no twinset diving experience will find the Intro to Tech  highly beneficial. You can also replace the Intro to Tech with a Sidemount course before continuing to Advanced Nitrox & Deco Procedures.
  • Helitrox, a mix of oxygen, nitrogen and up to 35% helium, can be used as an alternative to air on the course, limiting narcosis as well as gas density.
  • On its own, Advanced Nitrox is also a pre-requisite for CCR diver training.
  • Gain tech diving experience by completing guided tech dives with us
  • The next step in your technical diving journey would be the TDI Trimix course
  • 18 years old
  • Advanced Open Water Diver or Advanced Adventurer
  • Basic Nitrox Diver certification
