SDI Solo Diver
Team diving and the buddy system are great ways of diving as long as team members are evenly matched and have the same goals for the dive. The SDI Solo Diver course prepares you for times when this is not the case.
In reality, dive teams or buddy teams are not always evenly matched. Photographers tend to be very much focussed on their camera; instructors often find themselves in the water with complete novices and divers traveling on their own may board a charter boat just to find that there are no suitable buddies available.
For all of those and many other circumstances the SDI Solo Diver course teaches you to plan and conduct safe dives in a more self-sufficient manner. Whether you intend to actually solo dive or not, this course will teach you about gas planning and management, additional equipment for solo divers, dealing with contingencies and – most importantly – about planning a dive that is within your comfort zone and safe to do on your own.
It will, in essence, make you a better buddy on any other dives you do.
