Trimix Diver

Diving trimix with an oxygen content between 18 and 21% (normoxic trimix) is the next step for divers qualified to the level of Decompression Procedures or Helitrox. The TDI trimix diver course covers this and allows you to dive to 60 metres. This course can be taken in backmount or sidemount configuration.

The course is about more than extending your maximum depth, however. You will learn to handle two additional tanks apart from your bottom gas. These could be two different decompression gases or a travel gas and a decompression gas. Apart from bottle handling, in-water time focusses on dealing with team-based emergencies such as helping a toxing diver. You will also practice touch communications on a no-mask ascent.

In the classroom we cover risk management associated with deeper dives as well as considerations associated with helium as a breathing gas.

The TDI trimix diver course culminates in four trimix decompression dives giving students the opportunity to practice running dives as a team.
